Cardigan Bay Holiday Park

Cardigan Bay Holiday Park, St Dogmaels, Pembrokeshire, South Wales

4 star ****

Customer reviews:  5.0 / 5 (Excellent)

Cardigan Bay Holiday Park is an independent, privately owned park near the quaint riverside village of St Dogmaels which is significant because the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path starts and finishes here. Cardigan Bay is good value for money, scores excellent reviews and the 4 star facilities includes an indoor swimming pool complex as well as all the other usual facilities normally found in the big-chain owned caravan parks. The dune-backed 'Blue Flag' beach, Poppit Sands, is less than 300 meters from the park and in the waters there's a chance you'll get to see Bottle-nose dolphins. 3 miles from the park is Cardigan, the market town where you'll find a selection of restaurants, quaint pubs and a variety of interesting shops. Locally there's a bunch of medieval castles to discover, wildlife parks, boat trips, Cardigan Island Farm Park (7 miles) and Ceredigion Silver Mines Discovery Centre. Aberystwyth (42 miles) is less than an hours’ drive. Static caravans are available for rent but most don't accept pets so check with reception unless you find a private static caravan.

Tan-Y-Don Caravan Park

Luxury rural retreat

Tan-Y-Don Caravan Park, Prestatyn, Denbighshire, North Wales

Customer reviews:  4.5 / 5 (Excellent)

Tan-Y-Don Caravan Park is situated close to Prestatyn's sandy beach, 3 miles away from the seaside resort of Rhyl in the county of Denbighshire in North Wales. This is not your usual bustling holiday village as most are in the Rhyl area. Rather, Tan-Y-Don is by comparison one of the smaller, quieter caravan parks and it is very nicely presented with landscaped gardens sitting next to the Clwydian Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Customer reviews are excellent and there is some appeal to this holiday park as a rural retreat. Snowdonia National Park is on your door step and Carnarfon Castle, Offas Dyke walk (2 miles) and Dyserth Waterfalls are close by and worth a visit. All the traditional seaside attractions can be found in Rhyl which offers a lot of attractions which is just as well because ideally you wouldn't want to just stay in Tan-Y-Don Caravan Park the whole week. TripAdvisor and Hoseasons rate this caravan park with excellent reviews.

Aberdunant Hall Holiday Park

Aberdunant Hall Holiday Park, Porthmadog, North Wales

Customer reviews:  4.5 / 5 (Excellent)

Aberdunant Hall Holiday Park is considered one of the best family friendly parks in North Wales, has excellent reviews but is appreciated so much not for being a lively entertainment resort, in fact quite the opposite. Aberdunant Hall is a peaceful park in a rural setting within a huge mature woodland inside Snowdonia National Park, set between Porthmadog, a vibrant fishing port on the West coast of Wales, and Beddgelert, a great place renowned for walking trails. If you enjoy a spot of hiking or cycling, Aberdunant Hall Holiday Park is a good base from which to venture out into the North Welsh mountainous countryside as there's lots of wooded walking trails to explore. The sandy beach is a 15 mins drive. Places worth visiting nearby include Gypsy Wood Activity Park and Portmerion, a Welsh village that was designed in the style of an Italian village. Porthmadog has plenty of restaurants and country pubs along the busy high street. Facilities on site are limited to a children's playground and the Country Club restaurant/bar but don't be put off by this as prices are generally a little cheaper for the new mobile homes and static caravans for hire making Aberdunant Hall very reasonable and good value for money. To make up for it though nearby there are some great outdoor activities to look at including Zip World, Quarry Karts, Zip World FForest. They have an amazing underground zip line & adventure course. Other great local attractions include Greenwood Family Park, Llanberis Lake Railway, Portmeirion Village, Bala Watersports & Adventure, Beddgelert, the loveliest village in the heart Snowdonia National Park, Harlech Castle, climbing Mount Snowdon, PLAS MENAI, National Outdoor Centre in Caernarfon, PLAS Y BRENIN, the National Outdoor Centre, Snowdon Mountain Railway, The National White Water Centre Canolfan Tryweryn, Fron-goch in Bala or take a train ride with FFESTINIOG & WELSH HIGHLAND RAILWAYS through Snowdonia.

Customer reviews:  5.0 / 5 (Excellent)

Ocean Heights caravan park is in New Quay on the West coast of South / Mid-Wales. This caravan park is no doubt quite pristine looking with its landscaped gardens and the customer reviews are excellent but facilities are somewhat limited. The secluded park's appeal is much about its location in the Welsh countryside which offers ramblers endless miles of country walking trails in the foot hills of Snowdonia National Park, with much of the locality being considered an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Avid ramblers should try to hike up Yr Eifl circular walk, a collection of three (3) summits around the Llyn Peninsula. Accommodation on the park is mostly static caravan rentals.
