Seadown Holiday Park

Seadown Holiday Park, Bridge Rd, Charmouth, Bridport, DT6 6QS Dorset

3 Star ***

Customer reviews:  4.0 / 5 (Very Good)

Seadown Holiday Park is located in Charmouth. If you're looking for a large park packed with entertainment and facilities then Seasown is not for you.  This 3 star friendly holiday park is small and family run and facilities are basic, which is reflected in the cheaper prices. However, when you factor in it's impeccably kept grounds and great rural location in West Dorset, next to East Devon's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and in the heart of Jurassic Coast, Seadown represents great value for money. The park is a short walk to the beach and in either direction there are long heritage coastal paths to walk or cycle around Lyme Bay.  On site there are a few activities to enjoy like badminton, basketball and table tennis, but there is no swimming pool. Lyme Regis is nearby and no trip to Lyme is complete without fossil hunting. At Fossil Beach, a World Heritage Site, be sure to take the kids down for a fossil hunt. The best time to try is actually in winter time when the fossils are more plentiful due to the choppy weather causing more erosion.

Seaview Holiday Park / Weymouth Bay Holiday Park

Seaview Holiday Park, Preston, Weymouth, Dorset DT3 6DZ

4 Star ****

Customer reviews:  4.0 / 5 (Very Good)

Seaview itself is one of the smaller rural parks but it is adequately well equipped and do keep in mind that you do also have unfettered access to all the facilities in the neighbouring sister park, Weymouth Bay Holiday Park, which is managed by the same owners. Seaview and Weymouth Bay between them have an indoor and outdoor heated swimming pool with a lazy river, and plenty of activities to enjoy including a SportsZone field, kayaking, Aqua Gliders, Aqua Jets, fencing, archery, football, bungee trampolining, a children's soft play area, an adventure playground, tenpin bowling and an arcade. There are coastal foot paths to walk and Weymouth town centre and the sandy beach is just a five (5) minute bus ride away (3 miles). Swandown Lodges

Swandown Lodges, Cricket St Thomas, Chard, TA20 4DQ Dorset

4 star ****

Customer reviews:  5.0 / 5 (Excellent)

Swandown Lodges is located in the enviable parkland Cricket St Thomas Estate on the Dorset-Somerset border. Although last on the list it's certainly not the least best, quite the opposite in fact, it is quite luxurious. TripAdvisor average customer reviews scores a perfect 5 out of 5 and Hoseasons reviews rank Swandon Lodges the highest in Dorset. Obviously no where near the beach, this park is very much inland about an hour from the coastline, and is good spot from which to explore East Devon's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Black Down Hills. Stonehenge is a 1 hour's drive. The swanky lodges are owned and managed by the Evermore Lodge Holidays Collection so the accommodation is more upmarket, facilities superb with prices reflected accordingly. Facilities include an indoor swimming pool, miles and miles of walks and cycling trails on the 1,000 acre Estate. For children there is an adventure trail and football pitch. And for the adults they can enjoy the facilities at Cricket St Thomas Hotel leisure complex which provides a spa, sauna, steam room and health and fitness club. Nearby less than a mile away there is a traditional pub, the 18-hole Cricket St Thomas golf course and the Cricket St Thomas lakes and gardens. Jurassic Coastline (14 miles away) offers coastal walks.
